City of Rancho Cordova
Home MenuA Safe Community
The City of Rancho Cordova celebrates being a safe community by announcing violent crime and property crime decreased by 61% between 2004-2019. Since the city incorporated and established RCPD 18 years ago, it has focused on making our community a safe and inviting place for everyone.
This reduction can be attributed to the city's four-pronged policing approach, combined with a culture of innovation, and a dedicated and diverse policing team. Visit our crime statistics page for monthly data and crime reports by neighborhood.
Four-Pronged Policing Approach
The city has a four-pronged policing approach that focuses on building relationships with residents and businesses, getting to know the needs of neighborhoods, preventing criminal activity, and using data to help focus resources.
Culture of Innovation
The city has created new and innovative programs, units and initiatives to support its four-pronged proactive policing approach. This includes the Crime Suppression Unit, the first highly visible and proactive policing unit of its kind in the Sacramento region, and first-of-its-kind in the region Business Watch and Hotel Watch programs to build relationships with businesses to prevent criminal activity.
Dedicated and Diverse Team
RCPD's police force -- patrol, Traffic Unit, Crime Suppression Unit, Problem Oriented Policing Unit, detectives, Youth Services Unit, Crime Analysis and Prevention Unit, and Mobile Crisis Support Team -- is hand-picked because of their skill and passion for the Rancho Cordova community, which makes for a dedicated, diverse and motivated team.
