The next General Municipal Election for the City of Rancho Cordova will be held on November 5, 2024.
The Election Nomination Period for the City of Rancho Cordova will commence on July 15, 2024, through August 9, 2024.

The Write-In Candidate filing period is September 9, 2024, to October 22, 2024. Ballots are mailed to all voters by October 7, 2024, and ballot drop-off locations are open on October 7, 2024, through Election Day.

Offices To Be Filled
Three (3) offices are up for election on November 5, 2024:
- Council Members - Three positions, one each for District 1, District 3 and District 4 (the adopted district map or the interactive review map can be viewed online). Council member elections are conducted by district with election of council members by voters of the district alone. The Term of office is four (4) years, commencing with the certification of the election results by the City Council.

District Sequencing:
Seats up for Election in November 2024: District 1, District 3, and District 4
Seats up for Election in November 2026: District 2 and District 5
Candidate Eligibility and Running for Office
Candidates interested in running for Rancho Cordova City Council must meet the following requirements established by the State of California Elections and Government Codes:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of the election.
- Must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of California at the time of the election.
- Must be a resident and registered voter of the council district from which the candidate will be elected at the time the nomination papers are issued and throughout the term of office.
All candidates wishing to be placed on the ballot are required to complete the nomination process. To obtain nomination papers and to learn about the process, schedule an appointment to meet with the City Clerk during the nomination period from July 15, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. through August 9, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

Candidates are required to disclose personal and campaign-related financial information. All statements filed are a matter of public record. FPPC Filings are posted on the City of Rancho Cordova website.

Voter Registration
To find out if you are currently registered to vote, visit the webpage of the California Secretary of State. Not registered to vote? Register online at the California Secretary of State.
Re-registration is required if you have moved since you last registered, changed your name, or changed your political party affiliation.
The registration deadline is 15 days before an election. You may register to vote online at the California Secretary of State.
