The City of Rancho Cordova’s Planning Division focuses future development by ensuring our city’s growth is well-planned, attractive, sustainable and responds to community needs. To accomplish this, the Planning Division implements the goals, policies and objectives of the city’s General Plan, the 20- 30-year vision for the build out of our community. The Planning Division also partners with developers and businesses on new residential and commercial development and remodel projects.
Public Counter Hours
Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 12 PM (last service taken at 11:30 AM) 1 PM - 4:30 PM (last service taken at 4 PM)
Please note: The Public Counter is closed for lunch from 12 PM - 1 PM.
Planning Commission
The city's Planning Commission is comprised of seven appointed Rancho Cordova residents who assist the City Council by reviewing proposed city development projects and making recommendations about them. These recommendations could include approvals, denials or requests for changes to development projects. In some cases, development proposals will be heard by the City Council for final approval.
New Businesses and Development Projects
Development is strong in Rancho Cordova. There are multiple significant housing projects and new businesses in development and underway, including Rio Del Oro, the largest development in our city’s history.
