Neighborhood Services Programs
The Neighborhood Services Division’s goal is to grow and maintain strong and vibrant neighborhoods through five main programs: Code Enforcement, Animal Services, Parking Enforcement, Rental Housing, and Homeless Outreach. Collaborating with and educating our community about municipal codes, health and safety requirements, and animal services laws creates healthy neighborhoods, happy residents, as well as a sense of community and shared pride.

Additional Programs
Neighborhood Services also assists other city departments with the following programs:
- Weed Abatement: The city keeps the risk of grass fires down by educating property owners about weed abatement requirements and enforcing these requirements. An initial inspection of parcels is performed at the beginning of April each year. If you need assistance locating a weed abatement contractor, options are available on Sacramento Metro Fire District's website here.
- Solid Waste Organic Recycling Program: We assist Public Works by enforcing the state-required organic waste recycling program for businesses.
- Stormwater: We assist the Stormwater team by enforcing requirements that maintain clean water in our detention basins, creeks and the American River.
- Non-permitted tree removal: We are a “Tree City USA,” and we assist Public Works by enforcing the city’s tree removal requirements.
- Cash for Clunkers: We administer a program in which the city will remove a non-working or unwanted vehicle free of charge from a resident's property--and pay the resident $500 for it.
Helpful Resources
Our main goal is to educate and encourage compliance in order to create strong neighborhoods in Rancho Cordova. The Neighborhood Services Division has many helpful resources for residents, ranging from The Good Neighbor Guide to Pet Licensing.
We also encourage residents to report issues on the Rancho Cordova Connect app—it’s easy to use, and we’ll follow up with you immediately on the app.
