Any pet supplies should be new or like-new. Used towels and blankets should be free of rips and cleaned prior to donating.

How to License Your Pet

City residents may own four dogs or four cats per residence and must license each pet.

There are two ways to license your pet:

  1. Apply online through Rancho Cordova Online
  2. Download and mail in the Pet License Application Form

As of July 1, 2021, pet licenses will be provided to Rancho Cordova residents free of charge, thanks to the city's Community Enhancement & Investment Fund. Please fill out the pet license application so city staff can review your pet's current rabies vaccination and issue a license free of charge that will last through the expiration date of the vaccination.

Check out our pet licensing brochure for information on licensing, as well as our free spay/neuter program.

Free Pet ID Tags Available

No one wants their pet to escape, but it happens to handfuls of our residents every day. One of the best ways to prepare for your pet accidentally going stray is to have an ID tag on their collar at all times.

To make returning your pet easier for your neighbors and for Animal Services, the city is offering free engraved ID pet tags. They can be made in person at the Neighborhood Services Office or requested online through this link.
